I Really Rallied

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Jon Stewart's rally in DC yesterday. Since the Roots played, I got to tag along because I work with the Roots' management company. Here's what went down.

As soon as we got there, I got a backstage pass from the Roots' tour manager. Check it out:

It says talent on it, but my only talent seems to be hanging out backstage.

The first thing we did when we got to the Mall was go to the production trailer where the bands were warming up/ practicing. When we got there, Sheryl Crow was singing with the Roots. Then, Kid Rock walked in and they jammed for a few minutes. When they were done, Jon Stewart came over to them to say hi. Then, he jumped up on a policewoman's horse for a photo op. I snapped a pic from where I was standing.

He was very short. He looked at me and I smiled but whatever. After that, Ozzy Fucking Osbourne come over and went into the trailer too. I got to hear him sing "Crazy Train"! Here he is with Cat Stevens. They were distracted by the photographers in front of them, so I tried to sneak a quick pic.

Then, the event started. I bopped up onto the side of the stage to take a peek. There's John Legend with the jacket on in front of me on the left. He looks like a teddy bear up close and his jeans were really tight.

After a while, I got hungry so I made my way to the hospitality tent where everyone watched the event on two flatscreen TVs, like this:

What do you know? There's a few Mythbuster dudes gabbing with Jon Hodgman.

In front of the other TV sat Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Sam Waterson, and Sheryl Crow. That sounds like a Mad Lib.

There's the walrus-y Mythbuster in front of me.

After a bit, my friend and I walked out front to check out the crowd. Here's the stage. The Roots are playing their hearts out on it.

I went back to the tent to mill around. I stood next to Sharon Osbourne for a bit. She smiled at me twice! I liked her energy. Her perfume smelled expensive.

Stephen Colbert literally ran in. It was so fast, his pics are blurry.

Here, he's hugging John Legend.

Finally, I chatted with the Quran dude for a bit. He seemed like rad guy.

Whew! I had a blast. Thanks, Alexis for taking me. I gave my pass to my Mom and she wore it around all day. She was jealous that I got to go, but she really seems to love that laminated pass. She's gonna take it in to her work tomorrow to show it off. Hey, I'm glad it makes her happy.
