I wanted to give my girl Tracy Wilson some props. Her solo project band Ringfinger had a write up in Pitchfork the other day and it's always great to see her face in different places on my computer. She had a write up in Spin last month so the praise press train rolls on.
Check it:
Tracy is one of my dearest friends. She's just one of the sweetest, nicest, most loving people I know. I met her when I was a wee youngin (22) and she seemed so worldly to me (she must've been, like 26ish). She and her boyfriend at the time, Barry, kinda took me in. They seemed so adult to me cause they had a nice apartment in Stuyvesant-town. We'd have movie night at their place every Tuesday with a different theme each week. It became a "thing" with a rotating group of regular attendees: friends, coworkers, and cool-looking kids who'd just moved to town that we wanted to get to know better. We'd nibble on cheese and drink wine and get tipsy and make funny comments at the screen. Those were some of my happiest memories living in New York.
Tracy left NYC and moved down to Virginia about five years ago. Now, when I go visit her it's like staying with the town mayor. Everywhere we go Tracy is met with a warm reception. Hugs and "hi"s all around. I've met most of the people close to her in her life and they all are just plain top-notch. I feel so lucky to be included in her world. And, I love her husband Sam so much. He treats me like a royalty every time I see them. It's so great to see her be happy!
So, I guess I'm a little gushy today. I'm proud of my Tracy. She's been through so much and its evident that her gentle, loving spirit touches everyone she meets. All hail the queen!
